DIY Scratch Fixes

Fixing scratches on a car can is easy and can be done with many things you have at home. Here’s a couple of our suggestions! Here’s how to fix scratches on a car:

  • Candle wax is great for a temporary solution. By rubbing the wax over the cleaned area, you can seal the scratch.
  • Super glue will also seal the scratch temporarily and can blend with the vehicle, masking the damage slightly.
  • Paint polish and rubbing compound is a good way of fixing scratches, but you’re going to want to use the least aggressive solution first because overdoing it means it can’t be undone. Use a light polish with a less abrasive foam pad first then go to higher grit ones.
  • Wet sandpaper can be used to buff out shallow scratches. Start with 2000-grit wet sandpaper then use rubbing compounds and a wax or paint sealant for protection.
  • Touch-up paint is available at service centers like ours and can hide deeper scratches.

DIY Fixes for Dents

When you need to fix a dent in a car, you can count on these ways of making your Dickinson job just a little easier:

  • A plunger from your bathroom or a car dent plunger can pop the dent out after you’ve leveled the dent out.
  • A hammer or mallet is a great step in how to fix a small dent in a car. Use it on the opposite side of a dent to pop it back into place. Be sure that you are protecting the side you’re hammering with a towel to avoid more damage.
  • A dent puller will work if you’re skilled in its use. This is not good for beginners, though, because it requires you drill a hole in the dent and engage in a complex process.
